Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I serve?
- God has gifted you with interests and skills that, when put to use, will enable you to make a real difference at Life Center and in our community. When we serve, we also find a place to belong, an opportunity to be with others and joy in following the example of serving set by Jesus.

Does Life Center really need me to volunteer?
- ABSOLUTELY! Some might look at the size of Life Center and think that their contribution of time or talent won’t make a difference. But the truth is that we need help in scores of different ministries. If we are to thrive as a church, each of us must do our part and join in with what God is doing in and through people.

How do I find out what volunteer opportunities are available?
- The best place to start is the current edition of the HotSheet. The HotSheet is our tool for listing our currently open volunteer opportunities. It is available most Sundays at the Connect Center in the Foyer and can also be found online here.

How do I begin serving?
- Once you decide you want to explore a specific serving opportunity, fill out a volunteer application and someone will contact you. We also periodically conduct a class called “Finding My Fit” which will help you discover your unique place of service. Call us for more information on when the next class is being offered. To receive an application to serve at Life Center, please fill out this form. You can also print off a Volunteer Application here or pick one up today at the Welcome Center. What is expected of me?
- Expectations vary from role to role. There is a process in place to ensure you are appropriately equipped and trained. The most important thing you can do is show up at the appointed time. Should you ever have any questions about what is expected of you, be sure to talk with your team leader. Open communication is the best method to be sure the serving opportunity is a good fit for both you and the ministry.

What is the time commitment?
- The great news is that you can tailor your serving to fit your schedule and your season of life. There are serving opportunities available during our weekend services as well as throughout the week.

Must I serve at Life Center?
- Our mission states that we are here to influence our community with the good news about Jesus. While we encourage you to serve at Life Center, we also get excited when you tell us about how you are serving the community. If you need help finding a place to serve in the Greater Tacoma area, let us know, and we’ll link you to one of our strategic ministry partnerships.
